I have the Imac restore disk but how I install it now?
When I put the disk into the computer and start it up, I just get a white screen with an apple. Nothing else happens.

To boot up from the CD-ROM drive, hold the C key down while the Mac is booting up.
Nothing happens. I'm wondefing because I have a wireless keyboard that it's not picking up my holding down the C key
It can be tricky, hit C the instance you hear the chime....it can take a few tries.
at what point should i let go
When it's clear you were successful
I held it for 10 minutes till my finger went numb. I then tried doing the same thing with the "Option" key and got a choice to install DVD, so I clicked that but then I'm still at the white screen with the grey apple
Log into your computer normally, then go to System Preferences>Start up Disk and try to restart into the CD.
Out of curiosity: you said you have the install disk? Can you tell us what OS version that is?
And, your profile shows you're on Lion, for which there is no install disk.
Could you clarify what you have installed and what you are trying to install please.
As babowa has pointed out, your profile says you're running Lion, and there is no disk for it.
If it's true you're running Lion, you'll need to boot up holding down the Command and R keys until you see the Apple logo. This puts you into the Recovery partition, where you can run Disk Utility to repair your disk, repair permissions, or reinstall Lion.
I was ready to give up. I had spoken to Apple Care and they thought it may be that the bluetooth keyboard wasn't being picked up by the computer since the computer was now a complete blank slate. So I ran out and got a USB keyboard and I still could not get it working.
I was unable to even eject the disk to find out what recovery one it was.
But then I read the last two messages and did the Command & R and it's repairing my drive. Thank you guys so much.

I got to the window where it gave me a choice to reinstall Lion but it said I wasn't connected to the internet, but I had been. Now what???
You're welcome.
I'm glad we were able to help!

See if this link helps. You'll have to select your WiFi network as per the directions contained in this Apple Support Document:
I have a hunch here: did you buy Lion at the app store?
Or did you buy the machine used with Lion installed and the seller gave you the disks?
