How can I find iweb domain files?

Hi everyone. I'm in a bit of a state! I built a fairlybig website with iweb 1 - http://www.lakesweddingmusic.com - on my old Macbook (10.4.11) which died a few months ago. I now have a Macbook Pro(10.8.2) and have imported iweb 3.0.2 (I think that's the version) from an iLife '11 disc, along with iDVD. I tried the newly imported iweb 3 and it worked well. However, my mistake was to test it out: I opened a new file from a template and called it 'blank'. Now I want to get rid of this test file and load up my already created website -lakesweddingmusic.com. However, now that I've traced my old Domain files on my old Mac's hardrive, which fortunately, was left intact after the rest of the computer died, I can't get rid of this test file I created. My problem is I can't find the new domain file that I created in order to test out iWeb 3. If I delete the file in iWeb, iWeb won't close and neither will the mac Pro close, unless I do a 'start button shut down', which seems to be the only way to close iWeb when there are no files in it. Then , when I reboot and open iweb, up comes the test file which I deleted! So it's got to be somewhere on my new Mac. I've searched Users/Me/Library/Application Support - but the only iweb folder there is the one I created which houses the Domain file which I copied from my old Macbook hard drive! I've tried searching for 'domain' but only get the file with my website on it. I simp[ly cannot find or get rid of this new file. Any suggestions as to where it might be hiding would be most welcome.

In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"

delay 1

tell application "iWeb" to activate

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Thanks Roddy & O.T. I've got into the hidden iweb folder and want to delete the domain files. Is it safe to do so? I am aware that big-time mess-ups can occur by tinkering in the Home Library folder, but all I want to do is to delete the said files and replace them with another domain file - from my old Mac's hard drive - which will enable all my website files to appear back in iweb...won't it? Please don't give up on me now!

In addition to my problem re domain files, which is nearly resolved, thanks to the wizards on here,

my other problem is I moved iWeb Switch Domain-1 to the trash, in an attempt to resolve my already discussed problem, but from reading your posts, it seems I need it back where it belongs. Where should that be? I'm sorry but I've forgotten where it was before i trashed it.

Hi again O.T.

Everything has worked out OK, installing iWeb 3 with the correct web pages, thanks to your excellent help.

But I'm afraid I have a new problem. Probably simple to you but to me it's causing endless frustration!

OK, we're in iweb which, thanks to you, I've managed to install my web pages in OK. The problem concerns the Reverbnation music player on my home page at: http://www.lakesweddingmusic.com/Welcome.html

It's OK at the minute because I haven't overridden it with an upload from iweb 3. This is because I cannot get the player to show in my browser after I've published it. I've copied and pasted the HTML into the spot where I want it but when I publish, it just shows the HTML still - no player! Is this because there's no Reverbnation widget in iweb 3? My uTube video transferred fine, but I'm at a loss as to waht to do with the player. This was where iwebMore was so good in iweb 1, but you told me that the widget bit of iweb 3 replaced iwebMore and so isn't necessary anymore. It's proabably just me being stupid, but if you can help, I'd be most appreciative - again!

Thanks, O.T.

Everything is a whole lot better than before seeking advice on here. I've one more problem though and was wondering if you can help.

While doing some editing in iweb, I created a blank page (called 'blank') and afterwards deleted it as I didn't need it anymore. However, it refuses to move from my uploaded pages. It's disappeared in iweb and on my local browser, but no matter what I do - delete the already uploaded files and re load them with files without the 'blank' in the links page - it still appears at: http://www.lakesweddingmusic.com/Welcome.html

and at: http://www.lakesweddingmusic.com/Venues.html where it's really messed up the banner.

I've tried to find the offending file that must contain the error, but cannot. Can you help?

The offending file is the feed.xml.

In the version on the server the entry for the blank page is still present...

Blank

Blank

<in-navbar xmlns="urn:iweb:">7466A52C-A2FB-40E6-9CD4-3C1C3A26E627</in-navbar>

Blank

Publish your site to the local folder and upload the feed.xml. Remember to empty your cache before viewing the published site.

All's well with the banner links now, Roddy. Thanks so much.

Since writing, I found that my reverbnation widget would not show on my wife's ipad, but after replacing it with an HTML5 widget (on RN's advice), it's now showing and playing.

There are other configuration problems on my site regarding ipad. The worst one is at:

http://www.lakesweddingmusic.com/Comments.html My Comments page. This displays just fine on my Mac, but for some unaccountable reason, virtually none of the text -and there's loads - is visible on the ipad, neither is the grey to beige background colour to the text - just the green displays right across the page, apart from around the header banner.

Any hints as to why should be? A solution would be great! Is there a simple one?

Thanks again for the help re the feed.xml file.

Curious and curiouser!

I did what you suggested - turned on text imaging indicator - but looking in Inspector/Graphic, everything is blank: Fill, Stroke, etc. all blank.

I've added text to my Comments page over the years, but can't understand why it's turned itself into an image. Maybe it's because there's a couple of images within the text. Should I copy it all into TextEdit and break it up into small text boxes, or can I shortcut by changing the html somehow (I have textwrangler)?
