Ipod classic will not sync itunes purchases!

I have a new Ipod classic, and when I plugged it into my computer, it downloaded all the songs in itune, but I have purchased 2 songs on itunes for the first time and it is not syncing to the ipod classic? When I click to eject it, it does a syncronizing, but the songs are not on the ipod! My computer is authorized to itunes and I have a box checked to automatically download music. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!
