I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 6.1 and the rear camera stopped working

I updated my iPad 2 and my iPhone 5 to the new version of iOS, 6.1.

Immediately after re-setting up the devices (as prompted) the rear facing camera on my iPad 2 no longer functions. The shutter opens and I see what looks like a very dark possible image with colored horizontal lines running through it. Then the shutter closes and reopens with a new version of the jumbled mess. It continues to do this over and over again.

I can hit the camera swap icon and the front facing camera works fine. However, when I re-swap the camera's, the same thing happens.

The camera worked fine before the update, and then immediatly stopped afterward.

I have tried turning the device off and back on (holding the top button for five seconds and sliding the power off).

I have tried rebooting (holding the top button and the home button)

I have tried closing the app then rebooting, etc.

Nothing has worked.

Does Apple know about this and are they going to get a fix out soon?
