If you want to do what the original poster wanted, follow these directions: Put your phone in Airplane mode, either through Settings>Airplane Mode>On, or by using the button in the Control Center, the one that looks like an airplane. Then, Turn WiFi back on.

If you just want to turn cellular data off, go to Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Off.

Airplane mode. You can turn WiFi back on after putting the phone in Airplane mode, but ther is no way to use cellular data while the phone is in that mode.

Put it into Airplane mode then turn WiFi back on if you need it.

Alternately, if desperate and if a GSM model, take the SIM out and place in a safe spot. No SIM, no link. Just be sure to turn the phone OFF before you take the SIM out or put it back in. When you turn it on, it will warn you there's no SIM in there and behave like an iPod Touch on steroids. Just don't have the Skype app in there and set to auto-connect, cause they WILL call you thru it, SIM or not, thru Wi-Fi.

Ignore the post about removing the sim card. The sim card in an iPhone 5 is a Nano sim card...think tiny, & too easy to lose. Just put the phone in Airplane Mode, that's all you have to do, and that's why that setting is there.

Does it work on iPhone 4s. As I have one which is no good for a phone but want to give it to the kids for a iPod. With music and videos on it. But I don't want them to accidentally call someone.

Yes, it still for the iPhone 4S as well. However, if the phone isn't being used with an account, you can safely take the SIM out and store it somewhere safely. You would only need it if you had to restore the phone.

Thanks. Can call emergency calls still be made. If so how can I stop it please. Is there anyone who still fixes 4s phone snd is it dear.

Emergency calls can't be made if the phone is in airplane mode. However, it would be trivial for the children to turn off Airplane mode. Take out the SIM.
