Ipod Touch 4G apple logo startup loop

Ok. So I had Skype on my ipod touch with IOS 6.0.1 and it stopped running. A fiend of mine told me to manually select IOS firmware 5.1.1 to restore it and the update it so that it refreshes the firmware. Well needless to say my ipod is broke. How do i fix it? The computer doesn't recognize it. It's as though my ipod isn't even plugged in. I let it die and recharge but the second i plug it in it starts the loop again. The apple logo will appear for about 5 seconds then goes black for about 3 seconds. Then it does it all over again. I tried putting it in DFU mode to try to restore it but it wont even go into DFU mode. Warrenty is up by now too and i have no money to replace/repair it.

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
