Why can my apple tv not connect to my apple id account?

Everything on my apple tv is working fine except it isnt connecting to my apple id and just keeeps saying that it is unable to be found so therefore I cant watch/buy any movies or shows. The account is working on every other device I have (computer, iphone, ipad). Help!
