My icloud back up is continually failing and never completing.

My iCloud back up on my phone is taking 8 hours or so and then saying it's failed? What could be wrong?

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1

This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your phone that is preventing the backup. To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again. If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

My iCloud backup is also failing. When I try to manually backup in iTunes (not using iCloud) it doesn't seem to have a problem. When I enable iCloud Backup, the backup processes without any error messages but the date of the last iCloud Backup has not changed since February 5, 2013. Could this be a problem because under my iCloud account I still have my old @me.com account? I use a different account for my Apple ID (App Store) and another ID (iCloud Account). I have no idea why this is happening and am wary of deleting the backup because I don't want to lose my stuff. I have tried on many different computers (Mac and PC) and still have the same issue. I have plenty of space in my iCloud account (25 gb) and only one backup file as of now. If anyone has any light they could shed on this issue please reply.. Thanks!

Deleting your existing iCloud backup will only delete the backup from iCloud. It won't do anything to the data on your device. It you have a backup on your computer from backing up using iTunes you really aren't risking anything by deleting your iCloud backup. Also, there's nothing wrong with using a different ID for iCloud than the one you use

for purchasing from the app and iTunes stores. Finally, backing up to iCloud has nothing to do with the computer you use; it only uses your wifi to back up.

Open iTunes on you computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices (on a PC) or iTunes>Preferences>Devices (on a Mac) and check the Backups list to confirm you have a backup on your computer. If so, try deleting your iCloud backup and the other steps listed above to get your device to backup to iCloud again.
