iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1. Battery issue is major problem.

I'm sure there are already topics on this but i haven't the battery power to check...it's at 100% now, but in a very short while it'll be almost dead.

What the fapple happened?? Did the 6.1 update remove the battery?? Very poor.

With everything shut down, the battery level quietly drops, with the phone screen off, and nothing running the phone gets warm from time to time and before the afternoon is up, the phone is dead...not even 3 quarters of a days worth from full charge.

I have had the same issue. Upgraded to IOS 6.1 on my iPhone 5 last night and began the day with a fully charged battery. After only a few hours of use (and by use I mean screen off and no phone calls, I think I have sent one text and looked at my email 4 times) it is dead. Only other symptom is that it is running very hot. Less than a quarter of a day on a full charge. Something major has happened to battery life with my IOS 6.1 update.

In one hour this iPhone5 has been used to take a few photos, and read one email...it's now below 50% it started at 100% straight out of the wall socket and into my pocket. One hour! What the **** have they done with the 6.1 update and is anyone at apple taking any notice??

I have no apps running in the background.

Same issue here, when I called Apple support they said this is the first they have heard of it. Right now I am losing 1% per min with all services off. She opened a ticket with engineering and pulled the logs from my iphone to send to them. Very, very, frustrated........right now my phone is useless unless I am close to a power source.

I ended up taking my phone into an apple store genius and was advised very quickly (I strongly suspect they had seen the issue before) to restore the phone and set it up from scratch as a new device (and avoid using the backup). I have done so and it seems to be working as normal now. I have to say this is a very disappointing upgrade rollout from apple.

UK carriers and the bigger tech savvy blogs are commenting on this now.

I took mine to the genius bar and we stood and talked about the issues regarding the new battery drain since the ios6.1 update - whilst watching my battery power drop at a more than standard rate.

The guy, as nice and polite as he was - was willing to tell me about various things i should try, none of which were new to anyone that has used an iphone, 'is your screen ON all the time' etc etc - he was also hesitant about linking the issue to the recent ios upgrade and suggested he'd heard of no battery issues, in store or online.

I've reset as a new device, i'm not sure if i've noticed a slight improvement or if it's just blind hope.

Not having Exchange server issues, just battery drain whilst the phone does nothing.

Here's hoping Apple release an update soon, even if they pretend it's just to fix some maps.

I have a similar issue. I think there are a lot of bugs and imperfections with the iPhone 5 , which Apple is either unable or unwilling to fix. We buy into the hype of Apple products being near perfect - and let's be honest, they are pretty good - and feel a bit let down when basic things like this don't work as they should. I don't know if they read the feedback portion of their website, but it is always worth dropping a note there just in case.
