Can Superdrive override internal optical drive?
Do I need to disable my (non-working) internal disk drive in my MacBook to use an external drive to load Snow Leopard?
MacBook (13-inch Late 2007), Mac OS X (10.5)

No, you don't.

Good. Then how do I get the Mac to recognize the external drive?
Just plug it in and insert a disk. Note that if you're using Apple's USB SuperDrive, it won't work on Macs which shipped with an optical drive; this information applies to third-party drives.

So, the Superdrive is not so super after all. Now I need to purchase another optical drive to install my Snow Leopard disc into the MacBook? Seems like the tail is wagging the dog here.
What do you want from the superdrive ?
After all it's only a couple of motors, a laser diode and lens !
So by your logic, if the CD player in your car goes bad then the whole car is a right off ?
Custom mini.
Custom mini?
You can get a fairly cheap external CD/DVD burner/player at Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/External-CD-DVD-Blu-Ray-Drives/SubCategory/ID-420?Order=PR ICE
Looks like I'll be giving Newegg some business. Thanks so much for the link.
