Dang Margins

and my Mac is OS X

10.6.8

and I know to select all and either use the little hanggy things on the ruler to make changes OR there is the inspector.. but the problem being...

Margins are set for 1inch and 7.5 inches --- I want half inches and I can't figure out how to get half inch more type on each of the left and right margins - what is the deal with that?
