How do I revert to Older printer driver?

I am running Snow Leopard on a 2006 iMac. with a Canon MP810 printer attached via USB.

The auto duplex feature was working until Apple Update installed the 10.67.1.0 version driver.

I downloaded (from Canon) and installed the older 10.51.2.0 driver, but the duplex is still broken.

The Printer Dialog settings do give the options that are appropriate for the older version, including

Duplex but when I check in Print and Fax Preferences, it still shows the 10.67 ver.

It appears that going back to an Older version may not remove all vestiges of the existing Newer one.

Can somenoe explain how to completely remove both drivers, so I can start fresh?

Yes, I have deleted the printer and added it back. Also, the 10.51 driver does work properly on my

MacBook Pro, which was not upgraded to the 10.67 version.

I figured out how to fix the problem.

1. Uninstall the printer, from the Print and Scan Preference

2. From /Library/Printers, delete the entire sub-directory for the applicable printer manufacturer.

( /Library/Printers/Canon in my case )

3. Install the desired driver package provided by the printer manufacturer.

4. Add the printer ( Print and Scan Preference )

If this does not work, you may have to Reset the printing system.

To prevent Apple from messing up the drivers in the future, you also need to remember to ignore the next update.

I hope this helps if anyone else has this problem.
