When I plug in the hard drive to my macbook, I can see the iPhoto folder but it tells me that it is not accessible since Time Machine is running.
All I want to do is pull a few pictures off of the hard drive. So frustrating! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is Time Machine running? Have you tried stopping it from the TM preference pane?
I tried turning ogg Time Machine but I am still unable to access any photos. The actual message that I receive when I try opening iPhoto on the hard drive is 'You can't open the application iPhoto because it is in a Time Machine backup.' Am I trying to open the wrong thing? I have looked for photo files but didnt find any. Thanks for your help!
Something's missing here....how did you transfer the photos to the external drive? Are you using this drive for Time Machine backups also?
Yes, I am using the hard drive for Time machine backup as well now but only when I have it plugged into my computer. When I set up the hard drive, I selected certain photos and dragged them to the hard drive in Finder.
