I have a blank screen.

The original hard drive failed and I had it replaced by an apple certified tech last week. He also installed OS 10.4. The machine worked fine for a few days. But now, when I press the power button the startup sound chimes but still have a blank screen with no icons or desktop image. I can insert a music CD and then play it with itunes but I can't see anything. The screen lights up but it does display anything. What can I do?

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Take it back. The repair is not complete until your Mac works again.

Use the keyboard brightness controls to see if that will solve it. You may have to press the fn key also depending on how it is setup in System Preferences.

I had this problem on an older Mac once and took a long time to figure it out. Good Luck 🙂

thanks for the comment but I think I have to accept that my screen has died. I have had the computer since 2005.
