Play count not updating?

My iPhone 5 and iTunes on my Mac usually sync easily and allow me to see a cumulative number of the number of times I have played songs on both devices. Recently, my play counts are changed or just not showing up at all if they are from my iPhone. Is there a solution to this problem? If so, please tell me about it. Thank you!


I have read many discussions on this topic, but almost all of those people have iTunes Match which I do not have.
