I was updating my ipodtouch 4th gen from ios 6 to ios 6.1, i left itunes alone to do its thing and when i came back and checked, there is an itunes and usb symbol on my ipodtouch screen and an error on updating the ios. Now my computer and itunes don't recognize the ipodtouch. What do i do now? Checked my itunes is updated and my husband ipodtouch which is running a lower version of ios is working properly and itunes recognizes his device.

You may need to try this More than Once...

Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...

But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

i haven't modified my ipodtouch excpt to update the ios. Anyway, i tried the steps you mentioned above but it itunes still won't recognize my ipod and when i restart the ipodtouch, after the apple logo appears, the itunes together with usb symbol appears and then nothing happens after that.

    Try the remaining steps of:

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

tnx everyone. After reading so much on this discussion, almost trying everything that you guys suggested in the forum. What I did was, I borrowed my brother's laptop and his laptop has the latest itunes installed, i then connected my ipodtouch to the laptop and open the itunes. My ipodtouch was detected by itunes (finally ) with a pop up that says its in recovery mode and ask me to restore my ipod, which I did. So itunes then downloaded and restore my ipodtouch. After this i then connected my ipodtouch to my computer which has now detected my ipodtouch so i then proceeded to restore my back up files. So now i have my ipodtouch with all my files and apps plus my updated ios 6.1 . Many thanks to all of you!
