iTunes compatability v 10 + v11 in shared NAS

I have moved all my music files to a Western Digital Network drive. This drive runs as a iTunes server.

I have sourced the files from a Mac (OS 10.5.8) running iTunes v10 , and a Mac (10.6.8) running iTunes v11, two Windows 7 PCs running iTunes v11. I have followed the instructions as to copying files to the correct location on the WD drive, and set iTunes server "ON".

When I start either versions v10 and v11, only the v11 music files can be found in the "Shared" sidebar, under the network drive name.

I cannot update iTunes on the mac (OS 10.5.8) as there is no updates available.

Does this mean that v11 music files have been altered to work with the new version, and the v10 files are now orphans????

Or maybe a problem with the WD drive iTunes server????

I now have a Mybook live where Itunes from both mac and PC runs OK to Itunes server in HDD. However it took about 7 days for Itunes server to publish Itunes 10 music files.

My Mybookworld just spins and spins when trying to connect.

I contacted WD and got this response.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, we will be more than glad to assist you with this issue. Please keep in mind that in order for you to use the iTunes server on your My Book Live you must use the iTunes version 10.2 or earlier, please see the links below for more information:
