iChat script to close video window at the end of video chat

iChat script to close video window at the end of video chat

I need to set iChat on my parents computer to automaticaly close video window when A/V Chat Ended (from Alerts in Prefferences).

The closest script I found to what I need is

using terms from application "iChat"

on av chat ended theChat

try

close windows

end try

end av chat ended

end using terms from

This however closes all the windows of iChat. I need all of them to stay open so my parents can see my new text message coming. The only one that needs to close is the Video Window.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

HI,

All iChat windows and Titled and Numbered.

In AppleScript Editor go to the File Menu

Open the Dictionary option and navigate to iChat

This will give you some of the terms that can be used.

The Window listing still may not tell you all the names/titles of all the windows.

You need to try a more Specific Title where you currently have Close Windows.

"Close Video Chat" may work.

"Close Video window" may be another options.

If you can be sure the window will always be the top one "Close Front window" maybe an option.

Thanks Ralph for your help. "Front Window" worked.

Does any one know what's the Tite or Number of the iChat video window please!!?

Can't find it in the directory. "Video Chat" or "Video Window" did not work.

Hi,

The Name or title of any window is seen across the top.

A/V and Text chats tend to be named after the Buddy that you are talking to.

See this Screen Shot of an Video Chat with one of the Apple Test accounts

It becomes "Video Chat with 'Buddy name' "

It will show the "Real Name" as in the Contacts app or Address Book depending if you have Mountain Lion or not.
