Finder Loop after background update

This morning my system did a background update, and now I am stuck in a loop with Finder telling me that it shut down while trying to reopen windows. I have closed all of the running apps that I can, and I am continually getting the following error in Console:

com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[166]: (com.apple.Finder[1178]) Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11

ReportCrash[1177]: Removing excessive log: file://localhost/Users/*/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/Finder_2013-02-05-08035 9_*-MacBook-Pro.crash

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Fantastic! ✅

Your clue and doing a SAFE BOOT so I could remove two apps solved the problem . . .

Citrix software already was on the MacBook I am repairing, and I ran its Preference Pane to determine what it does, but then I downloaded and tried to install the free trial version of Drive Genius 4, which would not install since at present the MacBook is running Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) . . .

So, I can't say for certain whether the culprit was the Citrix software or the free trial version of Drive Genius 4, but after I zapped both of them and rebooted, everything was fine, which is fabulous . . .

Fabulous! 🙂
