how do i get address book on my imac to update on other devices

whenever i update my address book on my main mac (imac) the address book on my other devices stay the same.

i have icloud checked on all of them, including the imac, so theoretically if i update one device it should be carried over to the other devices.

can someone out there please help?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Forgive what may be a dumb question on my part, but you have confirmed in the iCloud settings on all the devices, including the Mac, that they're set to sync contacts, not just that iCloud is activated? Just want to confirm before anyone makes other, more complex suggestions.
