Unable to send via Outlook for Mac 2011 - but to just one address

I use Outlook for Mac in our corporate environment. I am unable to send to just one user. The e-mail address is valid and Outlook generates the least helpful error message of all time "An unknown error has occurred in Outlook." The problem started with a meeting invitation response.

All of the information I have been able to dig up refers to a general problem sending, not sending to one particular address.

Are you on the latest version of Outlook. Go to Outlook, Help/Check For Updates on the toolbar. Apply all updates and reboot. Retest and see what happens. This could very well be an app bug since it was triggered by the meeting invite. There have been known issues that get triggered by meeting invite accept/decline, but I've not heard of this specific one per say.

Also, make sure you're not using the auto-complete email address for this user. Try manualy entering in again the full email address.
