when i restore ipod keeps taking it back to asking for a passcode
I have restored it more than once but it keeps asking for a passcode even when I take it to factory settings. How can I take it back does anyone know?

You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.
The device hasn't been modified; it's brand new. My 10 year old pressed random buttons and entered a password. I have already done as you asked more than once but it keeps going back to a box saying locked with a passcode and you must enter the passcode on your ipod before you can connect with itunes on the computer. But surely if this has restored it (i did it to factory settings as well earlier) shouldn't it take it back to how i bought it. There isn't anything to lose because my son hasn't had it long enough to put anything on it. The device has ipod is disabled connect to itunes again arrgghh.

It hasn't... If it had you would not be getting the message you are getting.
- Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
After you download the firmware, then place the iPod in recovery mode and the restore using the manual install method.
- Then try on another computer
