22. How do I uninstall ClamXav completely?

First thing to do is quit ClamXav Sentry (if you use it) and make sure it's not set to launch at log in. You will then need to find the ClamXav disk image which you downloaded when you installed ClamXav (or download the current one again) as you will find an uninstaller application on that disk.

The uninstaller will remove the engine and any schedules you've got set up. All that's left is to drag ClamXav.app to the trash.

If you downloaded it from the AppStore, then that is correct and you uninstall it the way all AppStore apps are http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4673.

If you downloade it from the web site, then there is an engine uninstaller included with the .dmg file and Csound1's instructions are exactly right.

What did you use to search your hard drive? If Spotlight and the Finder, they don't look everywhere by default. Recommend a third party app such as EasyFind or Find Any File be used to do this.

I understand your concern and can only state that both are strictly stand-alone apps that I rely on daily to dig out unwanted trash and lost docs. I can also report having saved an untold number of hours by using each of them when Spotlight failed me. Even if all you do is visit the Find Any File site to read his recommendation on what is appropriate to your needs would be worth your time.

I'll second MadMacs0 recommendation for EasyFind, I have used it for a long while, it's benign and works well.

CleanMyMac (even demo) can uninstall itsel. Just locate it in the Uninstaller and proceed removing.

The user has asked for help regarding the app unistall process and has got the answer 😉 It is for him/her to decide if s/he follows it.

We get the thank you messages from various users daily (for proof, check Twitter and top tech blogs) - it means that some people prefer to use simple solutions. You might prefer it the other way and it is completely your right. Our goal is to answer our users who ask for help.
