Help! Ipod nano will not turn on or sync to my computer

I have an ipod nano 5th generation. I connected it to my computer and it synced. Updated music everything was normal. then the usb updated and the ipod screen went white. I restarted the ipod and the screen went black. I pod will not turn on or sync to my computer/itunes.
