My iPod 4th generation does not play any kind of videos and Safari, nor mail doesn't work they both crash every time i open them; also, i tried to restore everything multiple times, also, i can not update to iOS 6 and it fails to do so every time with restoring and updating. Should a virus be expected?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

If i may ask? Did you try the link i gave you.
The problem with that is that my home button is broke and is pushed in and its hard to get it to register .
And just to mention, the ipod is out of warranty by about 2 years.

Well, you may be out of luck. If you can't restore it to factory settings, and the home button is broken, then you pretty much have a brick on your hands.

- If you have iOS 5 and later you can turn on Assistive Touch it add the Home and other buttons to the iPods screen. Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch
- If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for:
