backing up On My Mac Mail in another Client

i need to totally remove mac mail from my machine (will reinstall if it doesn't solve a problem) and i want to make sure that my nicely organized email from 10 - 15 years that is stored in the On My Mac section of mac mail is accessible once i uninstall mac mail.

can i archive this or is there some other way to make this easily accessible?
