I am new to a MacBook, I just purchased a used Macbook with version 10.5.8 and I need to upgrade so when I get at least a total 4gb of Ram I can get Mountain Lion on this system. I need to know if possible what the next OS is so I can get the upgrade. Can someone tell me so I can see where to go to from here. Any help is appreciated. If someone has a contact number thta would help too.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

OS 10.6 Snow Leopard is once again available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:

but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
