My Dashboard has become really slow.
I created a new Guest account and tried opening the Dashboard in that: it works instantly.
Your problem is located in that one user account
Secondly, I went to my Library folder to delete ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.dashboard.client, and some other files that have been reccommended to trash, such as:
But, I don't have any of these files on my system...????
Because those are in the ~/Library/Preferences folder
Run through this list of fixes, if you can't solve it, backing up data, creating another admin and delete/recreate the problem account #17 will likely work as a last resort.
Use the free Easy Find, Spotlight isn't perfect.
Still not there, then run through the Steps, finally #17 is a delete and recreate the user account method to get default files back.
Just thought I'd update this thread...
Due to workload, I wasn't ready to begin what seemed like it might be a lengthy step-by-step process until this evening.
I just went to to my Dashboard to begin this, and discovered to my surprise that only the 4 default widgets were on display: Calculator, Weather, World Clock and Calendar. All are working instantly. I have re-opend the other widgets I normally had open, and all seems to be well. It seems that the simple action of merely opening a Guest account to view the dashboard, and then deleting it afterwards, cleared up whatever was wrong with my Admin account. I'm not sure how or why that worked, but as that's the only thing I've done towards fixing the issue, it must be it.
But thanks ds store anyway: I shall retain your checklist for future reference.
