Percussion Sounds Cutting Out.

Hi,

I'm running Logic Pro 9.1.8 on a iMac running OSX Lion.

I keep getting intermittent cut outs on my percussion channels (sometimes silence and sometimes glitchy cut outs). These are audio tracks running through Logic plug-ins. I did think it was something to do with sidechaining (Logic compressor running off kick & snare to slightly duck the percussion) but it happens whether the sidechaining compressor is on or bypassed.

The project is running off the iMacs solid state hard drive and the CPU meter shows the computer has plenty of processing power available.

Any ideas what the problem is?

No idea what the problem is, but does it go away when you freeze the tracks?

Freezing didn't make any difference but I did track down a non-Apple plug-in (Ohmforce Ohmygod filter) in the signal path. Bypassing it seemed to solve the problem but I've had the problem before without ohmygod in the signal path.

The first thing to always try in these audio-glitch situations (also with issues of sudden increased latency) is to restart coreaudio from within Logic; go to Logic Pro>Preferences>Audio>Devices>Coreaudio, then untick and retick Enabled. The Apply Changes v button becomes available; you can either press that, or Dismiss the window; either action will restart coreaudio. All your sampled instruments weill ber reloaded, so it may take a while, depending on how many you have.

BTW, to what have you set the I/O Buffer? Ancd the Process Buffer Range? When mixing, set them to their larger values.

Is this a "legit" installation, or a demo version or.... ?

Often demos have a builtin "timeout feature".

Its a legitimate but free plug-in.

I tried re-enabling the core audio but its still being troublesome
