Since the iTunes update, it no longer works for transfering pics or books to my ipad.

Hi there!

Just want to transfer an album of photos from iPhotos on my five year old Macbook to my iPad or iPod. It used to be easy!

Instructions say to click on the "photos" icon in iTunes after connecting the iPad to the computer. All I see are the icons for the apps that have been loaded onto the iPad. No "photos" icon. The old iTunes worked well for transfering books and pics from a Macbook to an iPad. The new iTunes doesn't seem to have any functionality, other than backing up downloaded apps.

Wish iTunes had a printed tutorial! Maybe they do? All I see is a video.

Actually there is a kb article about this for the new iTunes 11 version.

iTunes 11 for Mac: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad

When you launch iTunes go to View>Show Sidebar and that should make things a little easier for you. Click on the iPad name under the devices heading.

If you go to Itunes> View> Show Sidebar.. it will look like previous versions.

Thanks. Sidebar is there - offering to sync music, apps, movies books. Nothing about photos. Article is about syncing music, apps, movies and books. Nothing about photos.

Oh wait! It worked! Plug had come loose from iPad while I was trying to follow both of your instructions. Phew. Thank you, "Demo" and Dartiesdad. Very good advice about the sidebar. Problem solved.

Yes, the iPad name should show up in the side bar. You then have to click on the name to see the row of tabs in the right window. Scroll to the right in the right window if you do not see Photos.
