Cant search windows network

Hi,

We have Imacs with OS 10.7.3 and 10.8.2 joined to a windows domain but when they try to search the windows file server network shares they do not find anything. I have tried going to spotlight preferences / privacy and adding the network share then removing it hoping it would rebuild the search index but no luck. Is there any setting on the windows server 2008 r2 I should be looking at or on the macs that I can change? We also have Macs running OS X 10.6.8 and they do not have the same problem.

Hi,

is windows sharing enabled in the sharing pref pane and the network settings are well configured in the network pref pane on the macs? if so, try to connect a particular pc in the finder using cmd+k and type smb://{pc-name}/

You may want to try using EasyFind: http://appstore.com/mac/easyfind

Searching SMB shares from a Mac has never worked well, if at all, so unless you have the volumes shared out as AFP...with ExtremeZ-IP...it probably won't work.

Isnt windows sharing so windows computers can access the mac computer rather than the mac accessing windows shares?
