You might try a manual install/repair.

The instructions below I've done with Windows 7 64 bit.

After downloading the latest version of iTunes from Apple, extract the files in “iTunes64Setup.exe”

(If you have never done this, you may need to download a program such as WinRAR [64 bit].)

Manually run each install file in the following order.

    AppleApplicationSupport.msi

    Bonjour64.msi

    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi

    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi

    iTunes64.msi

If there are any errors, write back with the results.

    Ah, that's interesting.

What do your Properties/Security for Users\Alex\Desktop look like?

If SYSTEM is there and has all right check marks in Allow, you could try right clicking and choosing "Run as administrator"

If that gives the same error, check your non-Microsoft Anti-virus program or scan for Malware.

If SYSTEM is not there, you'll need to add it.  Write back and include a screen capture if this is the case.

My account is an admin account. (im doing some software dev) so it should have no issues. thats why im kinda lost as to why its not working.

also i just  checked for malware this morning and my anti virus program said i was all clean.

I think the key to a solution is in what your Windows Properties/Security for Users\Alex\Desktop look like.
