How can I manually control what podcasts are on my iphone?

One of the many things I hate about iTunes is the "synching." I just want to control what podcasts

go onto my iphone. That's all. With music I can drag the song onto the iTunes button. Why can't I

do that with podcasts? If you don't want automatic synching, is there some other way to get the

podcast from the computer to the phone? I HATE ITUNES!
