Basically what is mentioned above. Nothing is working. Please Help.

So what happens when you do connect to iTunes?

Try resetting your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

I think it's very likely one of them (either reset or recovery) will help.
so far nothing. error 1604 keeps coming up so i tried two different cables and a different usb port, but no luck
It sounds like you're aware of this (regarding error 1604), but just in case:
my iphone 4s stopped working after the 6.1 update. It only shows the connect to itunes icon, it is but nothing is coming up.
