Podcasts do not appear in Podcast App

When i sync the podcasts to my ipod they appear under the 'on my ipod' tab on the sync screen. However they do not appear in the podcasts app on the ipod, How if i search the name of the podcast on the ipod, and it finds them and plays them throught the music app. Any explanations? PS i reset the ipod to factory settings and after reinstalling everything it re-occurred.
