Is it possible to directly import an iPhoto book (project) into iBook Author. If so, how?

not only is it possible but it has been done
what do you have against the truth?
I did this by exporting from iPhoto as a slideshow with Apple TV as the target. Then just drop the resulting .m4v file into iBook Author media widget placeholder. It's no longer a Photo Book but a movie.
Tried this out with a cube effect slideshow and it works well.
It could be used for the Intro Media and is impressive as sound can be attached too.
Can anyone recommend a free and easy-to-use program to clip the length of the copyright free mp3 file I have?

Looked on the Internet and found Audacity which has been able to trim the audio file. Quite easy to use!
