Expression pedal isn't recogonized when recording

I am able to play my Novation Remote SL and logic records the notes, after touch, mod wheel, and external sustain pedal, but will not record the expression pedal plugged into the keyboard controller right along side the sustain pedal. I AM able to hit Command-L and assign that expression pedal to a parameter, like the wah pedal in logic's pedal board. Its so cool, and that seems to work perfectly, But for whatever reason, the control change data isn't being recogonized and recorded along with the rest of the performance data.

Please help.

As soon as you assign a midi message to a parameter (which you have done) with the Learn function, the midi data gets "hijacked" by that and will no longer reach the logic sequencer. You can see that in the MIDI monitor in your transport: as soon as you delete the assignment of the expredal, the control 11 messages from your pedal will show up there.

What you need to do instead, is engage track automation (Latch mode) to record the movements of the parameter. But if you need the Epedal to get the cc 11 MIDIdata to the track, then you should delete the Controller Assignment from the window (cmd-K).

Oh thank you so much. This makes sense now. If I assign the exp pedal to a pedalboard wah, then ofcourse I want it to latch to the wah automation track.

I was under the impression that my assignments are only valid for instruments and plugs when I highlight that particular track.

It seems to me, that there must be a preference to allow the exp pedal to default back to CH11 when not using the Wah I assigned to it. But I guess it's so easy to assign it and then delete it, no big deal.
