How can I play my windows audio files on my iMac

I have a new iMac and have migrated many audio files some of which are in a windows format. While all the mp3 file will at in iTunes or quick time the windows files will not.

iMac, iOS 6.1

Install the free version of Flip4Mac and try playing them in QuickTime.

I have tried that but when I try to play the files I get the message The application attempted to use an unsupported feature.

You can't; those are either DRM protected or require codecs unavailable for the Mac.

Is it not even possible to convert the files by importing them to Itunes?

Not on the Mac; the Windows version of iTunes or other Windows software might be able to do this.

So my only other option would be to physically copy the files direct from the cd's all over again?
