How can I tell if my g5 power mac quad(2006) uses PCIe or PCIx cards?
Hello,
I am purchasing a Pro Tools HD8 system, and I need to know if my g5 uses PCIe or PCIx cards? How do I find this out?
Regards, Dean.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier. If it's PowerMac11,2, the computer has PCI Express slots. If not, they're PCI-X.

If it's a Late 2005 model it has PCIe slots, otherwise PCIx.
Thanks Niel, that helps me out, Gotta make sure I buy the right cards. By the way, I wasn't sure but in the system profiler under hardware graphics, it does list the buss as PCI-e, I just wanted verification.
Thanks.Cheerz!
