Recurring Kernel Panic - Usb mouse related?

I have been reading throught the community support pages over the last couple of days, but nothing seems to be helping. 2 days ago I uninstalled my microsoft wireless mouse driver as I was using USB overdrive to manage my new Trust MaxTrack wireless mouse (it has extra buttons but comes with no drivers, I checked with manufacturer) Very shortly afterwards I had my first ever kernelpanic (had the Macbook since mid 2009). This kept happening so I tried restoring the entire system via time machine. I realise this was probably overkill but wanted to be sure that the system (which was working fine at my last backup) would be in working order. Then timemachine crashed part way through and I started to freak out, luckily my girlfriend is something of a Mac expert, so she took the reigns (luckily before i tried to system restore i booted in safemode and backed up my precious data), she ran a full apple hardware test, everything was fine, she ran techtool pro tests and all was fine and she did a full re-install of mountain lion (which I have wanted to do for a while now, a bit of a spring clean so to speak - maybe a hangover from my old pc user days!). I have been slowly reinstalling all my applications. Everything seemed to be okay, but a couple of times now it has kernel panic'd (both times while playing Team Fortress 2 on Steam). I have been playing the game for over a year now and no updates have been made that would co-incide with his error. If my memory serves me correctly I think each time the panic happened I was using the Trust mouse but am not 100% certain, could a mouse cause a Kernel Panic? from what I have read on the internet it may well do. I have looked up the panic log but cannot make head nor tail of it. I was hoping some kindly folk here may be able to help me out.

Any or all of the following third-party system modifications may be contributing to your problem:

M-Audio driver

PACE Interlok driver

Microsoft Keyboard driver

If the panic is recurrent, I suggest you uninstall them, one at a time, according to the developers' instructions, to see whether you can identify which one is at fault. A conflict between modifications may be involved. Reboot and test after each uninstallation.

Back up all data before making any changes.

Hi, Thanks for your reply, these kext files have been on my system for over 2 years with no problems. Since the last krnel panic I have ceased using the 'Trust Maxtrack' wireless mouse (which had no drivers/files to install whatsoever, just a miniture plug in usb reciever) and haven't had a panic yet. If it does reccur I will certainly make use of your suggestions. I thank you for your advice and I assume that from your reply there is no glaring evidence in the panic report that there is a serious problem with my Macbook internal hardware and that this is a software or external hardware related problem.I always keep a time machine back up along side a bootable clone to ensure my data is backed up sufficiently. I will update this post if any developments occur.

Update: I have had the panic reccur. I removed the microsoft drivers, the Pace and m-audio software (using th instructions provided by the supplier/manufacturer) But it has happened again, this time it produced only a partial panic log:

Can anyone help?

Additional: Before installation og Mountain Lion ran Techtools pro memory tests and all ok.

Just repaired disk permissions from recovery drive then tried to restart resulting in black screen and no boot (Light on front of macbook was on). Bootedin safe mode fine, and then restarted normally. However on loading the recovery drive I was presented with the 'welcome to your new mac' screen, but then it progressed to the recovery menu after.

Feb 12, 2013 12:21 PM in response to Toxic Dwarf

It's a hardware fault, probably bad RAM.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days.

Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

Thanks for your help, i have replaced the original RAM back into the machine and so far no panics and the system seems to be running more smoothly also. I changed to RAM so long ago I didn't think it would be the cause. I'm leaving all software as it is at the moment for a few days to make sure this has definitley fixed it then one by one I will try adding back some of the software i removed, leaving it a few days in between to ensure everything is stable. I would leave the software off entirely except that I am a music producer and also studying music tech, so my m-audio drivers and Max/Msp are essential to my degree and dissertation. I will leave this discussion as unsolved, but if all is good in a few days i'll return and mark your reply as having solved my question. Thanks again for your help. ( Do you get paid to do this by the way, because if you don't then you should. I have seen you helping so many people on these forums. Top work sir!!!!!)
