Q: I don't have "update" I have "more"...

    You have no recovery partition, that is why. The fix is to create one, if possible.

    How is this done in the current OS?  Just got a second-hand Macbook Pro (2012) and apparently the hard drive was wiped and software restored, but the recovery partition was lost in the process.  I did the internet recovery process and ran disk utility, but it didn't indicate any problems...

     

    I'm not sure how to go about fixing it, shortly of completely wiping the hard drive clean and starting fresh, which I would prefer not to do.
