how to use philips dock with imac

I purchased an older version of the philips idock DS3000. Love the sound but wondering if anyone has found a way to use it as a desktop speaker with the iMac (not using ipod) so I can watch movies and hear them through the dock? I tried plugging in the USB cable and the aux port cable that came with it, looked in the App store for an app to make it compatible and didn't find anything. The instructions show the dock being used with iTunes on a laptop but it's not working when I plug in the USB to my iMac.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
