What happens to my e mails in Mail if I log out of my i cloud account?

This is Patman again. Sorry - struggling with this a bit.

I should add: it is my iCloud ID account that I refer to as showing an old e mail address that has not updated automatically when I changed it with Apple.

Hope this clarifies the problem better.

It was the e mails held in Folders within the Mail program. I'm hoping these will not be affected because they are backed up on the Mac.

I ticked the Mail Box within iCloud under System Preferences (switching on Mail) and all my e mails seemed to disappear? When I unticked it (Switching Mail off) they all reappeared. Not too sure what is happening.

No. Its an old ID used previously to register with iTunes. The e mail address is defunct. I'm having problems with my e mails with my new ISP - wondered if this was connected.
