I recently purchased Macbook pro with Retina. It came with Quicktime 10.2 version. I am unable to see any control panel whenever I launch a music, like stop, pause, volume control, rewind etc. Right now only way to stop playing the music is to shut down the notebook!
Any suggestions?

Launch QuickTime Player. It's in your Applications folder. From the File menu select Open File. Navigate to the file you want to open and have a go at it.

Thnx sig! I guess I was looking for a dedicated QT window to open on my desktop whenever I launch the app. Now I understand.
