how to install thunderbolt with my macbook air 13" v.10.6.8

Hello, I just bought the beautiful thunderbolt display but I can't get it working. Does anybody know what I might be doing wrong? I have a MacBook Air 13" 10.6.8

How old is your MacBook Air? The first with Thunderbolt was the MacBook Air (Mid 2011). If you have an older model with Mini DisplayPort you can use the Mini DisplayPort version of the display:
