I am creating a photo slideshow using iMovie '11. Is there a way to have the slideshow automatically adjust to the song? I want the slides to automatically time themselves along with the transitions between them to end exactly when the song ends. Does iMovie '11 offer an easy way to accomplish this? If not, can I do it in iDVD once I export it for ripping onto a DVD?

Do you know how I can overlay or crossfade multiple audio tracks so there's no silent pause between songs? I woul dlike to start a song as the song before it starts to fade out.
Can I use the Beat Maker option if I already have the pictures on the timeline with the song? Or do I have to start with the song first, then add beat markers, then add the pictures last?
Yes, you can overlap the music tracks so that one is ending as the other is beginning.
Drag the music track in and drop it on the clip where you want it to start, rather than dragging it to the background. Then you can drag it right or left.

It is best to start with the song first, then add the beat markers, then the photos.
A really quick way to do this is to add the song. Then open the song in the Clip Trimmer view (click the gear at the top left of the song track). In Clip Trimmer, you can play the song and tap the m key at points where you want a marker.
In iPhoto, create an album of photos in the order you want them in your movie.
In iMovie, open the photo browser. You can drag the whole album in at once by dragging the album to your project. The photos should snap to the beat markers.
When I add them, the photos aren't snapping to the beat markers. What could I be doing wrong?

I would not recommend using transitions with beat markers. Beat markers let you snap on a beat. A transition takes place over time over several frames. Use one or the other.
If you dont want to snap to beats and just fill out a song, you can do it by math. Take the length of the song and convert it to frames. Then divide by the number of photos. Set the duration of each photo to that length.
For example, if the song is 3 minutes and 37 seconds, that is 3*60*30 frames + 37*30 frames = 6510 frames.
If you have 57 photos, each one would be 114 frames approsimately. So each photo would need to be 3 seconds and 24 frames.

Thank you very much for all your help. I went another path and built a slideshow in iPhoto. Do you know how I can quickly export it so I can burn it onto a DVD to play on a TV? When I choose 'export' I don't know what file type to choose. I have Toast and iDVD. Please help.
