How to get wireless connection onto HP DESKJET 3070A to iPad?

I have just purchased the above printer and am endeavoring to connect it to my iPad. However, can't get connection to my router at all. Printer keeps telling me no wireless connection. I went back to the purchase shop to be told to download an app via itunes. How do I do that ,the only app I can find called HP app I downloaded but it doesn't enable me to get on wireless. I have a router called fritz box, about 5 years old. Could it be that? Please help, I'm about to pick a window for the printer and have been forced to resort to wine.

First thing is to get the printer connected to your router.

Usually the printers will have a panel on the front that will let you set it up. You may need to follow the instructions in its manual to get it to connect.

Basically the connection will work essentially the same as on a PC or iPad. You will need to use the Printer's control panel to search for your router's wireless network, and then connect to it by providing the password if necessarry.

When the printer is successfully connected to the wireless network, you can attempt to print from the iPad by simply opening an app capable of printing and finding the Send to or Share menu (usually a twisted arrow). In that menu should be a Print option. Tap on it to have the iPad look for available printers on the same wireless network its on. If the printer is air Print compatible, then the iPad will pick it up and be able to print to it.

1. Run the CD provided and setup as network printer; this will setup your printer to the same network as your iPad. Software will send WiFi SSID and password to printer. Do not connect printer to laptop until you are told to do so.

2. Start printing from your iPad without wire

3. You can use this app to control more features on printer. LED will trun from red to green when printer is detected.

Thw Wireless let should turn Blue when the printer connected to your network.

If it is not yet connected you may install the software from your computer by selecting wireless connection to connect it to your network or by using WPS (Wireless Protected Setup) if your router support it.

You may find step by step instructions to set up the wireless connectio through the software in the following document:

WPS can also be used if your router support it:

To connect the HP All-in-One to a wireless network using WiFi Protected Setup (WPS), you will need the following:

A wireless 802.11b/g/n network that includes a WPS-enabled wireless router or access point.

NOTE: 802.11n will only support 2.4Ghz

NOTE: If you have a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) router with a WPS push button, follow the Push Button

method. If you are not certain your router has a push button, follow the Wireless Settings Menu method.

Push Button (PBC) method

1. Press the WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router.

2. Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the wireless light starts blinking. Press and hold for 3

seconds to start WPS push button mode .

NOTE: The product begins a timer for approximately two minutes in which the corresponding button on the

networking device needs to be pressed.

Wireless Settings Menu method

1. Press the Wireless button on the printer to display the Wireless menu. If the printer is printing, in an error state,

or performing a critical task, wait until the task has been completed or the error cleared before pressing the

Wireless button.

2. Select Wireless Settings from the printer display.

3. Select WiFi Protected Setup from the printer display.

4. If you have a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) router with a WPS push button, select Push Button, and then follow

the onscreen instructions. If your router does not have a push button or you are not certain if your router has a

push button, select PIN, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

NOTE: The product begins a timer for approximately two minutes during which the corresponding button on

the networking device needs to be pressed or the router PIN needs to be entered on the router’s configuration

page.

Your reply is most thorough, but unfortunately the starting point for me is that the blue light on the wireless connection point on the DESKJET will not go from flashing to constant because the printer cannot recognize the router. The router has no buttons, knobs or anything else on it, only flashing lights indicating I have power on, wifi connection and the phone. So right at the beginning, I can do nothing with the printer. On the printer's control panel you have a choice, wireless on or off? I press wireless on, but although it confirms that itis on, it clearly isn't as the blue light doesn't go solid and there is no router connection.

Here's the exceprt from the Printer's user guide:

This basically ammounts to having the printer find the wireless network manually, and providing the correct password for your network.

1. You must run the CD provided in your computer/laptop

2. You will have to setup it (printer) up as Network Printer

3. The program in the CD will than ask you to connect the printer to the laptop/computer using the USB cable provided

4. The program will then search for your router and password and transfer it to your printer

5. Once set, it will ask you to remove the USB cable and your printer will then be on the same network as your iPad

6. You'll than be able to print.

Note: As long as you fail to do the above, it'll never print
