I have found a fix for the grayed out wi fi button. This is going to sound a little crazy, but.... it worked great. First let me say you are are doing this fix at your own risk. Like I said , this is and easy fix and it worked great for me after searching for 3 weeks for a fix.. This problem was also a result of my os update. Ok , ready.........

First, using a hair dryer, by blowing hot air into your headpone jack and ear listening hole, you have to get the phone hot enough to get the overheat warning to showi up on your screen. ( thats the same warning that shows up when you you leave your phone in your car in the sun on a hot day . it's a picture of a thermometer and a warning to tell you to let your phone to cool down) Ok. so after you have heated your phone hot enough to generate that warning on your screen.. now, power down the phone. (turn it off)

Next.... put the phone in a small plastic sandwich bag. get as much air out of the bag as you can ,seal it ! Now put the phone in your freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. thake the phone out of the freezer power it up and your phone should be trouble free. my wi fi was fixed , my phone ran faster, my battery lasted way longer. you won't believe it. The way I understood this procedure was that by heating up the chip that caused the problem, you reset some kind of auto shutdown in the chip. anyway good luck. it's a great feeling when you get it working right again. Apple kept telling me it was a hardware problem......thats ********, it was their half assed download that causes this proplem.
