No "summary" on menu bar

Why don't I have "summary" on my menu bar? I want to manually sync my ipod, but the "summary" option is missing from my top menu bar. I downloaded itunes again, made sure I have the current version, etc. I'm stumped.

Actually, I stumbled on the answer. In order to manually sync your nano ipod -- and if "summary" is NOT on your top menu bar -- just right click on your device on the far left menu. Option screen appears where you can select "manually sync" (or whatever their phrase is). Easy peasy. Just getting that valuable piece of information took TOO long.
