Do I need to update to OS 9 before updating to OS X Jaguar on my iMac G3? please help me. As of right now, my internet only shows the following websites... Google and apple.com

If it's a slot-loading iMac, yes; Mac OS 9 is needed to run a firmware update for Jaguar to work.

Yes. Another way to tell is to check the computer's CPU speed; machines with a speed of 333MHz or slower are tray-loading, while 350MHz and faster iMac G3s use slot-loading optical drives.

I think I was on it when I got home, and I think it said some thing like 333. I will have to check later. I tried reinstalling OS 8.6 because whenever I try to get on Facebook, or practically any website besides google and apple.com, it always says "this file is not located" at this point I just have no idea what to do.... by updating, will that allow me to get on Facebook?
